Nest

My son brought this home to me the other day. They were cleaning out fencing where he works, others wanted to just throw this away. Ma Boy new his Ma would appreciate it.

The art of the nest, perfect craftmanship, and the finest tiny eggs imaginable, they are the size of the nail on your pinky finger, how precious.

Done, done and done.

It's about time I got this thing done!
It is called, "Fall into Winter" .

It it quilted at an average of nine stitches to the inch.

Crazy time consuming.

This is my Flying Fox....

Most of the blocks are my originals.

It took a stinkin long time to finish it, I work on things put them away, get it out, work on it some more, put it away again.... took forever to finish this one.

Now its done, I don't know what I'll do with it, put it away for my boys to fight over someday, that is if they care enough about it.
I'd like to get better photos of it these are of it just draped over the fence.
It is a pretty thing if I say so myself.

First week of August

Almost have this done!
Running through the sprinklers on a hot summer day.

Mommy ( Minime) watching over her babies as they play in the mud puddle under the faucet. If I get too close she will launch herself at me and try to beat me to death with her wings. She is a tiny little thing but incredibly fierce when it comes to her babies.

Lynx, also known as Bathroom Kitty, laying on my desk.... she has the finest, longest whiskers I have ever seen.
We have decided to call Mr. Tinky, The Pirhana. Holy Cow, it is a good thing he is super tiny because if he was a regular sized dog the begging would be intolerable.
He has found the delights of people food.
Wow.
All my dogs are beggars but this little guy is the horrible. Add a ton of cute-factor to persistent begging and it is pestering at its worst.
He is under his blankie right now, I will try and post new pics of the little stinker and his sweet girlfriend, Miss Piggy.

Bad dog

Tigger is still a puppy and the chewing goes on and on and on....
He got up on a chair and fished several things out of an antique bowl on the table, one was a velvet covered dog, a childs toy, over 100 years old. "Was" is the operative word here.

The other thing was a tiny book. Was. So here is a tiny portrait on the remaining cover of said book, a portrait of Tigger at his most innocent. Little bugger.

He really does have worry wrinkles on his forehead. And when he is really curious his ears nearly touch above his forehead. Good thing he is cute.

Finished

So here is the finished collage painting. So different from what I usually do. It was fun and I loved finding the antique music with the line, "faithful 'til death".

Working freely and intuitively like this is a great way to overcome the white-paper panic I so often feel when working with colored pencil. You can't make mistakes with colored pencil there is really no way to fix the screw-ups. Paint is so much more forgiving.

HI Janet

Hey, thanks for your comment Janet. I appreciate it.

As for Burgess, he is adorable and as I write he is upside down in my cup of clear paint water trying to have a bath. He is jammed in there, very funny.

I had planned to release him but he is so tame now I don't know what to do. He still wants to be hand-fed, his favorite is sliced deli turkey! He'll probably just stick around :)
